We’re celebrating NAIDOC week. A heartwarming ode to hope, connection, and the healing power of music, this modest new Australian feature film from Alice Springs will uplift, inspire, and leave you humming its tunes long after the credits roll.
Ella, grappling with her mother’s recent passing, and Izak, an aspiring Indigenous hip-hop artist, have a shared passion for music. It becomes the bridge between their contrasting worlds. While Ella’s songbird voice has remained a hidden treasure, Izak is out there, crafting songs on his iPhone and dreaming of a professional music career. The weight of cultural expectations poses challenges which threaten to be the undoing of their fledgling relationship. Ah, but the music wins and proves to be an unstoppable force for good: Under Streetlights is a charming and innocent feel good film.
